(--Where am I? )

When I came back to consciousness, this time I seemed to be in a completely white space. I still can’t feel or see anything, but unlike before, I seem to be able to recognize that I am in a white space.

“Oh?　Are you awake?　Welcome!　Lost lamb!　I am the Goddess of Mercy!　Meririsarte! I welcome you!" (Notes: It seems the name of the goddesses here is somewhat derived from the ancient Greek myths. The closest to Meririsarte that I can find is the Nymph Melissa which according to the myth she’s the one who taught us the use of honey and she is also one of the nurses of Zues when he was a baby. Or maybe she’s not the goddess of mercy but of a different kind.)

A strangely high-spirited voice came from the white space. Like the god I saw earlier, I can't see her, but from the way she speaks, she sounded like a little girl acting like an adult. I'm sure she's either a naturally silly goddess, or a fairy tale goddess who is pretending to be a pretentious little girl.

“Hey! Stop ridiculing people out of the blue! I can tell everything what you're thinking! And when you say it like that it hurts my feelings, you know!”

“Gwah!　Megami shock! To say such a thing to a dainty, innocent, graceful and beautiful idol of the world! You’re being really mean for a goddess such as I!　If this were a church, you were beaten to a pulp by my fans… uhmm I meant my believers!"

(You say that you’re the Goddess of Mercy but you will let your followers lynch me without doing anything? Ah, what a horrible goddess.)

“Waah! You’re so mean! It’s the first time someone said mean things to me and especially coming from the son of Zues!"

(….It is what it is. Though I'm rather worried about the inhabitants of this world. Is this world alright?)

“Of course, they are fine! Everyone is living well and is having fun! They are always worshiping and praising me by saying ~Megami-sama, Megami-sama you are so kind~.”

(I see. So, there is another goddess besides Meririsarte-sama, and that goddess is being worshiped by the people.)

“Gwaah! I don't know what you're talking about, hohohohoho.”

Is this world really fine? Is she really one of the main pillar goddesses in this world? To be honest I don’t think that she is. Maybe the other goddess is really good.

“That's not the case! That Goddess is a no-no! Even if the number of our believers are as different as the population in this world, our rank is the same!”

(When you say that your believers are as different as the population in this world, do you mean that all of humanity is the believer of that goddess and Meririsarte-sama has zero believers? Please I want to change the goddess in charge of me.)

“Wait!　Please wait!　If a person from another world abandoned me, then the meaning of my existence will truly be lost! And Artemirina will get tired of me! So please can you take some of the burden off my shoulders? I'm sure you can imagine how I feel when people squint their eyes at me and say, "That goddess isn’t good and she's useless, she’s a dame-megami, a damegami”! I can also get hurt you know! It’s not like I don’t have any followers because I want to! In the first place how can I even supposed to win against Arte, when she is the only god who is being worshipped! I was even treated as an evil god by a girl who is a follower of Arte! We're both goddesses, you know? Of course, even I think that Arte is a little bit better than me, but… but I have bigger boobs than her! Arte may give oracles when there is an anomaly in the stars, but so what I'm a lot younger than her! Also, Arte may come down to help the people when there is a plague that almost kills entire of the continent, but so what I'm much cuter and more beautiful than her!　Arte may......"　(Note: Artemirina is probably derived from the name of Artemis.)

(I get it, I understand so please stop. It even makes me sad to hear you say something pitiful about yourself. So, what's the self-proclaimed young, pretty, silly Meriri-sama with bigger breasts than Artemirina-sama is trying to say to me?)

"How do you know that I have bigger boobs than Arte!?"

(You just said that yourself earlier! Please continue your explanation!)

It then took me quite a while to get the details from a confused Meriri.

In short, it seems that it is quite difficult for Meriri to act as a goddess in this world, because she was entrusted by Artemirina-sama to deal with the otherworldly people who comes from another worlds. It's a completely hierarchical relationship. Though, she doesn't want admit that.

So, it seems that Meriri occasionally takes care of the otherworlder who comes to her, but most of them are ending up getting angry at her and are reborn in the world without her doing anything. And because of that Artemirina-sama finds them and takes care of them once again.

"Uh, it's been 500 years since a person listened to me seriously. It was so hard because last time that person was so angry that he just asked me to just give him a weapon, and he wants to be immediately reincarnated. Arte then said to me that I need to do better next time. So, this time, I was really determined to do my best. And thanks to you, I was able to speak my mind about different kind of things!”

So annoying, no I need to be patient here if I lose my temper here all my efforts up to this point will be in wasted. Wait maybe it’s better if I lose my temper here and get angry with her so that I can go to Artemirina-sama, but Artemirina-sama seems to be serious unlike Meriri, so I have an image of her being inflexible and I think Meriri is more flexible because of her stupidity. I'll just have to be patient here. I'll endure this with the mental strength I've cultivated as a company mule.

“You know I can hear you, right?!　I'm not that stupid! Arte also said, "Yeah, yeah, Meriri is smart. Yeah” I'm sure she'll praise Meriri a lot someday too!”

Is this a new scam? Kamikami scam. The victim is made a believer of the perpetrator without realizing it. There’s no freedom of religion at all. (Note: Kamikami literally translated to god, god.)

“Wait! Arte and I are really on the same level in terms of the goddess rank! Also Arte has so many followers that it's rare for her to bestow blessings, and just to be blessed by a goddess such as me is an amazing thing!" 

(But you are treated as an evil god in that world, right? Then, doesn't that make me a follower of an evil god? Won't they think that I’m evil since I have the blessings of an evil god?)

“………………… Now it’s SKILL TIME! What kind skill of do you want?” 

(Hey! What are you talking about? I don't want the blessings of an evil god!)　

“Yeah, but if I take away your blessings when you haven't caused any problems, Arte will get mad and will lecture me again! There's really no problem with the blessing itself! So, if you keep quiet, no one will ever find out! So please! Remain my believer! In return, I'll make your skill super special, powerful, legendary, ultimate strong rare skill!"

Note: The goddess name is written as メリリサート I don't know if it's Merilisart or Merilithart, Meririsarte or something else entirely. So unless someone correct me with her name it would stay as Meririsarte for the time being
