Chapter 6
One-Horned Rabbit
As I started to walk away with this thought, a rabbit-like creature with horns appeared in front of me. Is this a one-horned rabbit? If it appears in a place like this where you can see the city, does that mean that this monster is meant for beginners to fight?
I had never seen this creature before. Its friendly eyes and gestures made me forget the danger that monster might posses so I approach it.
Then all of a sudden...
"Gah!, It hurts! Ahhh!"
When I was near the one-horned rabbit, the rabbit jump then impaled me in my stomach, due to the recoil the rabbit's horn fell out. I couldn't stand because of the pain and I fell on my knees, the one-horned rabbit then ran as fast as it could.
Unable to support myself, I fell to the side, and intense pain rushed through my body again.
"Hah, hah, hah, this is really dangerous as the bleeding isn't stopping at all."
My body is shaking and because of the pain I can't think straight anymore. Just a single movement of my body can send a searing pain through my entire body, and I feel like I'm going to lose consciousness.
"That's right come out, rank A potion, rank B potion, rank C potion!"
The ranks A and B potions didn't come out due to the restriction, but I got one rank C potion, so with my shaky hands I pried the lid open and poured it into my mouth. I couldn't breathe properly and so I almost threw up, but when I swallowed it, the pain was gone in an instant as if the pain didn't exist before. Just to be sure, I produced another bottle and so that I can pour it over the wound, but it seems that it's already pointless as the wound was already closed.
"This is really amazing! The wound is completely closed and I don't feel any pain anymore."
It looks like I didn't need to use a second potion.
I'm really surprised about the healing power of this potion. The hole in my stomach was completely closed in a matter of seconds. As expected of a world with magic. It seems that I don't need to see a doctor anymore.
I got up, slap the dirt off my body, and look in the direction the one-horned rabbit ran off to, but it's already gone. My body returned to a perfect condition, even after the injuries that I sustained.
But still, I didn't expect to be attacked by a monster suddenly after leaving the forest. It seems that Meriri's protection against monsters must have worn off.
I better hurry to the town and not think about taking it easy. I was saved because I had potions, but this world is too dangerous for me to live in.
I don't know how many more potions I can make, so I can't be optimistic. Incidentally The second rank B potion I had in my pocket was broken by the impact earlier, so I have no more ranks A and B potion. I don't know if I can still produce a rank C potion, and I can't even try it right now because I don't know what I'll do if I break them again.
Also I don't know if a rank D potion can heal wounds as I don't want to try it now so I should hurry to the town before I meet another monster.
And since I wasn't given any combat related skills so, I will just live quietly in the city as there's a high possibility that I can't protect myself if someone became my enemy. [Potion Making] is indeed a great skill but it's not suitable for protecting me.
And that's not all if I'm captured by a corrupt aristocrat I may be forced to make potions for the rest of my life. So I really need to be careful. first I need to find out about the situation in the city first while only showing rank D potions.
If it looks like there's going to be a problem when I'm inside the city, I need to prepare an escape route so that I can flee the city as soon as possible if something goes wrong.
I kept running towards the town while looking around the area to see if there's anymore one-horned rabbit or monster coming out.
After leaving the forest and running for a little while. I came to a road that wasn't paved but I could see a lot of horse-drawn carriages coming and going.
Looking toward the direction of the town, I could see several people on foot and horse-drawn carriages in the distance.
I guess that there would only be few monsters that will appear at this point but just to make sure I decided to keep running.
Thanks to the potion, I was not tired at all also I'm not getting hungry, and I wonder if I can live with potions alone?
Then I imagined myself in hospital, hooked up to an IV and emaciated wishing I could just go to town and get a good meal.
Wait now isn't the time for me to imagine things as I'll have to think about my background before I enter the city. For starters, the former owner of this body told me that he was a refugee from a neighboring country.
I don't even know the name of the country, but would they question me if I say that I have lost my memories? Or maybe I could just say that I don't know anything about the country because I have been living in a settlement on the other side of the forest since birth. I'm a child anyway, so they won't ask me for a lot details.
I'll say that I had no family and that I have lived together with a master potion-maker who taught me how to make potions, but that master passed away recently that's why I became a refugee.
And even If I have to offer a high rank potion, I will say that the potion was made by my master.
Before entering the city, I prepare three bottles each of F, E, and D potions. According to Meriri, my method of making potions is like a magical cheat, so I can't make them in public.
I want to hide it as much as possible, but is it possible to ask her to teach me how to make it normally? If I knew how to make it normally, I could mix it with it and ship it as a distraction.
Well, I'll think about that later, but now the question is whether they will accept a child that came from another country carrying a potion. As I remember refugees aren't always accepted as some of them are trying to smuggle goods or something.
While I was running while thinking I've already reached by the gate. It seems I passed a lot of carriages along the way, I hope that won't become a problem later on. I had run quite a distance and still I didn't get tired but...
I was so absorbed in thinking that I didn't care about my surroundings. Let's just hope that only a few people have seen run like that and it won't become a rumor.
