Chapter 9

Fate

As I walked out of the 22nd counter and stood in the hall, I felt the gaze of a greasy old man who was glancing at me. I tried not to make an eye contact with him and headed for the first teller window, trying not to feel nauseous. I was lucky that no one was there, so I tried to talk to the receptionist sitting at the first counter.

"Hey! You're in my way, Get out of my way!."

I turned around and saw a crazy guy looking at me while yelling from a good distance from here near the door.

I decided to ignore him and called out to the receptionist lady, but she just smiled and said, "Please line up behind him.".

"Why is this kid trying to ignore me? Didn't you know that I'm a D rank, I'll make sure you'll never work in this city again!"

"Well please calm down, Serga-san. This kid had just registered in the guild a few minutes ago and he doesn't know the rules of the guild yet."

"Oh is that so? Then who's the guy in charge of him? I will teach her on how to properly educate a newcomer. Bah! this is making me sick, maybe I'll just sell my product somewhere else?"

....Hmmm aren't this bit strange?

Is this madman has some kind of really high connections to the people in guild? In the first placed I had already arrived at the counter right? I mean is it really okay for someone to give up their place to another person who isn't even near the counter yet? And moreso they asked me to lined up behind him, does high ranking members in this guild are given preferential treatment? Isn't that strange?

"Oh? What's with that look in your eyes? You got a problem with me? Why are your newbie F-rank ass doing in the first counter in the first place? Maybe your only an errand boy, if so do you want to make your parents take responisibility for you acting like an idiot?!"

"Oh... Gwah! this guy?"

I was suddenly kicked in my stomach and then I fell on the floor. I was kicked so hard yet I hardly feel any pain. I couldn't stand anyone kicking me so I got up and headed towards the mad man when suddenly a guard stood up in front of me and kicked me after that he held me down on the floor

"We don't allow any violence inside the guild."

"What? Are you talking to me?"

I can't believe the words that were said to me when I was held down. I hate this little body as I couldn't shake off the man that was holding me.

"Hah! I hope you now know your place, you scum."

"Well, Serga-san, don't bully him too much. He's just a kid who doesn't know anything."

I'm getting angry at the crazy guy who smiles with amusement at me being held down and the receptionist who smiles along with him. Are you telling me this is a difference in rank? And that low-ranked people are not even allowed to defy those who have higher ranks? And the guild condones it? Screw you!

(Please bear with me for a while, because if you get wild here, I'll have to detain you.)

"!"

The guard whispered to me apologetically while holding me down. This crazy guy has that much power? With a mere D rank? That's the fourth of the six ranks, right? So, does that mean... that people with low ranks are arrested just for going against those in the high ranks? This guild has too much corruption going on.

Eventually, the guard held me down until the crazy guy finished his deal and left the guild. During the transaction, the crazy guy spent a lot of time looking at me, deliberately being stingy with his prices and wasting time talking with the receptionist.

I was getting angrier at him but I did notice one interesting thing. It's the items that he is selling.

The receptionist didn't tell me the name of the product to protect the privacy of the customer, but the crazy guy was so proud of himself that he told me off.

"Eight F-rank potions, three E-rank potions, and now, a bottle of a D-rank potion! Kukuku, hahaha."

I was stunned by his proud proclamation. He seemed satisfied with the look on my face, but I was the one who wanted to laugh. The merchants who were around and watching from the sidelines were thrilled to hear that he sold a D-rank potion.

I had heard from Melvin-san that D-rank potions are rare but their reaction was really unexpected.

...Ha, hahahaha, this is good, this is really good. I'll do it then, I'll play with them on their own ground and I'll make them regret of not taking me seriously when I was planning to live a modest life.

Thank you Meriri for giving me the strength to resist this irrational place. I have no intention of coming to another world to worki like a company animal or to look out for someone else's welfare. I will fight for my freedom. I'll show all these people what I'm talking about.
