Chapter 4

Episode 1 Part IV

"Wahhh! Wahhh! I've really done it!"

When I returned to my room, I lay down on my bed while feeling ecstatic.

It is true that I'm in high spirits because of the return of my memory from my previous life.

However, when I think about it now, I'm on the right track.

No, I was irritated, that's for sure, but...

"I think that was a good purge; don't you think so too?"

Sophia said that while sitting on the sofa in front of a low table and enjoying drinking tea.

"Since the king is away, the nobles were obviously getting carried away... "To put it another way, they were taking advantage of you."

Sophia, who always has a grinning smile on her face, doesn't really hold back when she's talking to me.

Since we grew up together like brothers and sisters, that's why, in private, she would joke around and talk to me like this.

"Stop that. Don't remind me of that as I really want to forget that."

"Speaking of, the way you speak suddenly changes, is that your true nature?"

"Even if this is my true nature, do you think I could even hide it from you?"

Following in the footsteps of her father, who suddenly passed away, she became a duchess at the same age as me. She's my assistant and the acting prime minister, Sophia. Even if I was really hiding my true nature when I was still "me" to her, I'm sure that she would find it out in an instant.

Just like what is happening right now.

"Don't tell me you've gone insane, or that you've been switched with someone else?"

"Actually..."

I told Sophia all of what happened to me and that the memories of my previous life had returned.

Sophia is a really close friend of mine, and she's also my comrade in arms who will support the country in the future. That's why I thought it would be beneficial to me if I were to speak to her honestly instead of lying and hiding the truth from her.

"So in short, because of your lack of luck with women in your previous life, together with Celis breaking off her engagement to you, that pushed you to your limits, and that's why you went on a rampage?"

After listening to my story, Sophia burst into laughter.

"To even use the King's Knight... to clear up your name... seriously, that is so weird."

Sophia is laughing so hard that tears are starting to fall in her eyes.

"So what do you want me to do in that situation? You want me to pretend like it never happened?"

When I murmured those words, Sophia shook her head in denial.

"I told you, didn't I? A purge was necessary. If you didn't do it, I'm thinking of doing it myself because the nobles are getting ahead of themselves. And the information that Marquis Connaught has been leaking has gone unnoticed for far too long; he's been leaking information in broad daylight."

In the end, the Connaught family will be destroyed, their personal property will be confiscated, and the trading company that they owned and operated will become a state-owned enterprise.

"What are you going to do about Celis?"

To be honest, I don't care about her anymore. She wasn't a particularly outstanding woman, but she did take her education as a future queen seriously. I thought that if we got together, our relationship would improve, just like my parents wanted, but...

"There's no way a young lady from high society can live a common life after losing her house, right?"

"Our falling out is partly my fault since I was so busy handling political affairs."

If I had cared and been more considerate for her, would she have been deceived by the hero?

I guess this is the result of my inexperience.

"After what had happened, I'm sure no one would probably want to adopt her. Then I guess our only choice is to send her to a monastery."

"As much as possible, find a place where it's not strict."

"Even though you acted so flashy in front of a lot of people, in the end, you're kind. Is it because she's your ex-fiancee?"

"It's not like that."

I just thought that it would be good for her to reexamine her definition of "true love" under the guidance of the goddess Satyria.

"Also, what are we going to do about those women who are in the former party of the hero?"

"I'll keep my promise to them. I'll expel them from school after that, and they won't get punished anymore."

After all, those women have already made their decisions.

"However, the woman from the Pardos Kingdom will be deported from the country immediately, and from now on she won't be allowed to enter our country."

It doesn't matter if what she did was intentional or not. The problem is that she gave out vital information about our kingdom, and that put our country at a disadvantage.

"Understood, then lastly, what are you going to do about the hero?"

Since I already beat him up so much and broke his heart, it might be fine to just banish him, but what he did is unforgivable, so he needs to pay for that.

"Put him to work in the mines; I'm sure he'll have a lot of time to think in the mines about his wrong perceptions of the world, where there are only men around him. Also, we need to review the school's curriculum and educational policy, and at the same time, we need to make it more accessible to the commoners. I mean, how can someone conclude that you can become the king if you marry the crown princess?"

"That's just because that monkey had a special way of thinking..."

When I shook my head in denial, Sophia just smiled wryly.

"No, what if the commoners misunderstand things like that? I'm sure there are more idiots like that monkey out there. If we don't let the commoners learn some knowledge and wisdom before it's too late, we're going to have to deal with a second or third monkey sooner or later. I'm imagining that it will be really troublesome dealing with them every time, and that's why, before that happens, we need to prevent it."

I stopped rolling on the bed, then I sat down across Sophia, and I brought the now cold tea into my mouth.

"So what are you going to do about yourself from now on?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"The candidate for your wife is now open again, right? I'm sure from now on you will be offered a lot of marriage proposals from the daughters of different kinds of people."

Oh, now that she mentions it, that is indeed true.

"That's really troublesome."

"You don't need to put it that way, you know?"

"If you really want me to get married that much, why don't you be my wife?"

Isn't that a really good idea? Not only do we know each other really well, but she's also really good when it comes to political affairs. Isn't she perfect as the crown princess?

"If I hadn't inherited the house and the title from my father, I might have considered that, but right now things are different."

"I guess, you're right."

I didn't take what I just said seriously because I knew Sophia had a home to protect.

"Ah, this is really troublesome."

If I think about it, ever since my previous life, I have fully understood that I have no luck with women.

After all, the only women who are interested in me are those who want to become the crown princess. And if they aren't interested in being a crown princess, then they don't interact with me.

"Seriously, I wonder what I should do."

That's when I suddenly realized.

In my previous life and in my current life today, have I ever benefited from seriously worrying about my problems when it comes to women?

In the end, the ones who laugh are the ones who are doing whatever they want.

Then what's wrong with me doing the same kind of thing? From now on, I will live my life doing whatever I want.

The idea seemed like a revelation to me.

I burst out laughing, and Sophia looked at me suspiciously, but I didn't mind her.

"I've decided, Sophia!"

"Hmmm? Then let me hear it."

Sophia narrowed her eyes amusingly as I clenched my fist and said, "I will live as I please! I will become a tyrant!"

At this time, I had no idea that this declaration of mine would be the catalyst for the great development of the Hortessa Kingdom.
