Chapter 20

Episode 3 Part VIII

After the martial arts competition, I took Julian to Sophia's office.

At the moment, Sophia is in a meeting with the various ministers and generals to come up with a plan to stop the monster invasion of the Slough Margrave's frontier territory.

As for why I'm not in a meeting with them, well, I'm a tyrant, of course, and I'll only listen to them after their meeting is adjourned and a decision has already been made on how we're going to suppress these monsters.

"Uhmmm, Your Highness."

I had already motioned for Julian to sit down on the couch, but he remained standing.

"I have a few questions I would like to ask you."

"Julian, we're friends, aren't we? Since we're close enough, I'd like you to stop calling me Your Highness, and please don't use honorifics when you call me. You don't want me to call you Julia, do you?"

Julian nodded in agreement when I asked him the question.

Of all the members of Hell's Watchdogs, Julian is the most polite. When the other members talk to me, they are careless with their language and don't show a hint of politeness in what they say.

"If I don't use honorifics when addressing you, I will sound and speak like a woman. Uhmmm, Olea-sama."

"Using sama when you call me by my name, huh? Hmmm, oh well, that's fine for now. So, what do you want to ask me?"

"Why did the Wolf Rider move on his own?"

Ah! I see, he's curious about that.

I narrow my eyes and look into the distance.

"A horse rides to the scene in response to a knight in crisis; isn't that really cool? I also added a transformation mechanism and an automatic function to the Wolf Rider. If you're curious why I did that, it's because of passion."

"Huh? Wait, you mean the Wolf Rider can transform and move by itself? But why did it come to me? At that time, I wasn't the owner of the Wolf Rider."

"Do you remember when I let you test drive the Wolf Rider? At that time, I entered your knight information into its system.

The truth is that I did that because I wanted Julian to use it a few more times so that I could take pictures of the Wolf Knight in action.

Well, that's a secret I'm not going to tell her.

I just thought that if someone else won the martial arts competition, I could simply replace the knight's registration on the Wolf Rider's system.

"I see, Olea-sama believed I would win from since the beginning!"

"Ah, yes, that's right."

Julian stared at me with gleaming eyes, so I couldn't tell him the truth.

Oh, and since in a normal Knight the pilot is defenseless when he gets on or off the Knight, to prevent the pilot from getting hurt, we have added a feature where the Wolf Rider will deploy a shield when a pilot gets on or off the knight.

In normal warfare, the other unit around the Knight will cover and protect them when they need to get on and off the Knight, but in case of an emergency, the Special Forces may have a time when they need to work alone, so we decided to add that function to the Wolf Rider.

"I see, just one last question then. The last attack the Wolf Knight used, what is it?"

"That's the Wolf Rider's "Blast Howling" roar. Since it's a wolf-type Cavalry, I want it to have a special move that resembles a wolf's."

Inside the Wolf Rider, there's a special weapon that emits two different types of vibration waves that come from his left and right hands. These waves will collide and destroy the target from within.

To be honest, I didn't really understand the logic of how it would actually work, but when I presented the concept to Director Olsen, he was very enthusiastic about making it happen.

And having seen it in action earlier, I think Director Olsen has done a really good job.

"Julian the Wolf Rider is the result of my dreams and passion. Don't worry, even if you break it, the Arsenal Bureau will fix it, but please take good care of it.

"Of course I will!"

I smiled at Julian, who nodded repeatedly, then took a sip of the tea the maid had just brewed.

While Julian and I were talking, the door suddenly opened and three butlers came in carrying a pile of papers and piled them on the desk.

"Oh, Your Highness, what are you doing here?"

Sophia followed the butlers into the room and sat down on the sofa opposite me.

The maid brewed more tea.

"Looks like your meeting took a long time, huh?"

As soon as I said that, Sophia glared at me.

Wha... What's wrong with her?

Julian, Lloyd and the maid behind Sophia didn't even notice the change in her expression.

Sophia sighed, then messed up her hair.

"That's it, I don't want to do this anymore. Look at this pile of papers! If we knew this a bit earlier, I could solve this really easily. But right now, it's been a year since the outbreak started, so we have no choice but to mobilize the Third Knight Order".

"I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you."

Julian apologized anxiously to Sophia while she was still standing behind her back.

"Don't worry, this is not your fault; the fault lies with the Second Knight Order!"

"What do you mean by that?"

"While I was conducting my investigation on Scott, I had someone from the Dark Bureau conduct an investigation on the various inspection teams. The result of the investigation revealed that every unit, no matter how big or small, is making profit while using the same underhanded techniques that Scott had been doing."

"Hmmm, why did Scott-sama do that?"

Ah, it looks like you don't know what's going on, does it Julian?

"Actually..."

When I explained Scott's plan to Julian, he froze in despair.

"That's why the Slough area has been suffering for over a year."

Julian clenched his fists as he muttered the words in frustration.

Sophia took a sip of her tea and sighed again.

"Your Highness, regarding the special forces you want to create, I've already received the budget for them, so we can create them as soon as possible."

Sophia announces with a grin.

"I'm glad to hear that, but what happened? How did you get such a budget in such a short time?"

"Because it is necessary right now. From now on, I'm going to use the Special Forces to audit the inspection team to make sure that what they're reporting is true. Then I'll also ask the various feudal lords to send their reports directly to me in this system, so that I can triple-check if the incident is really true."

Sophia explained with a smile on her face. But wouldn't that mean more work for the officials?

Well, I'm sure she already has plans for that, because I'm sure if Sophia says it, she'll do it.

Julian, as Captain of the Special Forces, after we stop the invasion, I'm going to have you trained in the Dark Bureau while you do your investigative training. In the near future you will also have to make a political decision, so be prepared for that."

"Yes, I understand!"

Sophia nodded, satisfied with Julian's answer.

"Hey, what will happen to my time training with Jul..."

As I was just about to finish what I was trying to say, Sophia glared at me.

"The official start of the Special Forces is expected in a year. I'm sure by then we'll have selected the members, produced the Cavalry and recruited the support members. Therefore, the Cavalry that the Special Forces will use will be the top priority of the Arsenal Bureau and the Shipbuilding Bureau."*

And with that, the Special Forces unit I had planned, filled with my dreams and passion, was transformed by Sophia's hand into a very realistic plan, and it looks like it will eventually become a reality.

"Now then, let's talk about how we're going to stop the monster invasion."

There's no way I can stop or interrupt Sophia when she's that angry.

Note:

1. I double check it using several dictionaries and it really does say Shipbuilding.

2. With this Episode 3 is now complete. Like what I've written on the main page after I'm done with Onee-san Sensei Episode 2 which is 9 chapters long, I will do Episode 4, Idle Talk, and Episode 5 of this series because those 3 has got something to do with each other.
